Job Overview: The Facility Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all applicable Gaming Enterprise facilities comply with the SMSC Gaming Ordinance, Tribal/State Compacts, SMSC Gaming Commission Regulations, and the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). This includes adherence to the Gaming Enterprise System of Internal Control Standards (SICS) and the National Indian Gaming Commission’s Minimum Internal Control Standards (NIGC MICS).

Create Your Path: The Work You’ll Do:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), and ensure compliance with the SMSC Gaming Ordinance, Gaming Commission Regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), SMSC Gaming Enterprise System of Internal Controls (SICS), National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Regulations, and Tribal/State Compacts.

  • Periodically meet with departments across SMSC Gaming Enterprise, Tribal Operations Public Safety, Property Operations, and Building Inspection staff.

  • Conduct area reviews of SMSC Gaming Facilities to identify, document, and report potential health and safety issues.

  • Accompany official health and safety inspections on existing and newly constructed areas within and surrounding SMSC Gaming Facilities.

  • Review official health and safety inspection reports quarterly, noting major infractions and monitoring follow-up inspections.

  • Participate in Gaming Enterprise construction planning meetings and ongoing project meetings until project completion.

  • Annually prepare a year-end report for presentation to the Commission in conjunction with the Facility Licensing renewal, including all required documentation to support the renewal process.

  • Process any fees requested by the Commission related to the annual licensing.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Combination of post-secondary education and/or experience in a casino gaming environment equal to 5 years required.

  • Five years of progressive leadership experience with an emphasis on regulatory compliance.

  • Possess strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrate experience in the development of administrative policies, procedures, planning and budgeting.

  • Successfully complete and pass an extensive background check meeting the standards of a gaming license.

  • Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with good driving record.

  • Ability to travel for meetings, training and conferences; ability to adjust schedule and work flexible hours as needed or required.

  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software required.
