Position Summary:

The Security Director oversees all aspects of the Casino Security Department through effective departmental leadership and is responsible for administering an effective professional security and safety program to provide a safe and secure environment for Guests, Team Members and Company assets.

Responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position reports to the Assistant General Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casino’s culture and always demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.

  • Ensures the highest possible standards of guest service are provided and listens and responds to guest and Team Member concerns and questions.

  • Responsible for the protection of North Fork Mono Casino & Resort gaming assets and property, as well as protecting the life of those that work, do business with and visit the casino.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Security Department.

  • Ensures the operation of a 24-hour, 7 day a week Security Operation to provide timely response to routine and emergency situations.

  • Participates in the reporting and directing of safety issues.

  • Ensures that thorough internal or external investigations are conducted and documented appropriately.

  • Ensures all Team Members are complying with Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), policies, and procedures.

  • Develops and/or administers operational policies and procedures consistent with the Standard Operation Procedures Manual, and applicable MICS.

  • Provides security guidance at all levels in both routine and non-routine situations, exercise discretion, and independent judgment.

  • Approves and reviews departmental reports.

  • Prepares and develops budget recommendations.

  • Overall responsible for the management and supervision of the Security department Team Members, including hiring, training, developing, and separating employment.

  • Directs and leads Team Members to meet management directives.

  • Responsible for developing and administering training programs for the Security Department Team Members and develops and administers applicable training programs for all Team Members.

  • Reviews all incident reports and provides statistical data to Casino management.

  • Takes required enforcement action for violations of Tribal, State, and Federal laws.

  • Responsible for ensuring that vehicle accidents or guest service concerns are investigated and addressed in regard to accidents or safety concerns/incidents.

  • Maintains and develops strong community relations with law enforcement agencies as necessary.

  • Attends, and satisfactorily completes, all required training as assigned and required.

  • Manages and maintains security of confidential information entrusted to position.

  • Establish staffing patterns to promote optimum utilization of all personnel.

  • Responsible for ensuring that staff payroll is completed and approved prior to the close of payroll deadline.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.

  • Comprehensive knowledge in security, investigation, loss prevention, safety awareness and risk management.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, and to handle sensitive situations with tact.

  • Excellent guest service skills, and the ability to handle guest concerns diplomatically.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, guests, and Team Members.

  • Ability to perform interviews and interrogations.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • High degree of integrity in performing job duties.

  • Ability and experience to manage supervise and develop staff talents to enhance teamwork, Company image and cost effective productivity.

  • Ability to use office equipment with strong skills in Microsoft Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in a casino security supervisor or above position with at least one (1) of these years as a security manager or above required. Large-scale casino security experience preferred.

  • Registered with California BSIS or ability to acquire one (employer will provide upon hire).

  • Experience in risk and safety required.

  • Casino opening experience in a security management position preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in training.

  • Current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required or ability to acquire one (employer will provide upon hire).

  • Current RBS certificate required or ability to acquire one (employer will provide upon hire).

  • Valid California driver’s license and insurability required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • All work is performed on site in Madera, CA.

  • Requires manual dexterity to perform job related functions.

  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for the duration of their shift.

  • Ability to bend, carry, climb, crawl, crouch, grasp, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, sit, stand, or stoop during or for the duration of their shift.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs. with or without assistance.

Work Conditions:

Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.  Work includes the maintenance and care of the assigned work area. Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage.  Work is performed outdoors and can involve continuous exposure to high and low temperatures, sunlight, wet surfaces and noise.
